A SPIRITUALISTIC FUNERAL.—The San Francisco Chronicle chronicles the death and funeral of a young spiritualist medium named Henry Chase, in which there is a rather ludicrous illustration of the strength of the ruling passion after death. The young man's mother preached his funeral sermon, in which she said that since his death she had had several interviews with him. In life he was a jolly and frolicsome youth, and while his corpse was being prepared for burial he entered the room and gave his mother to understand that "he did not think that he would make such an ugly-looking corpse." During the whole process of dressing him after death he was present in the room, cutting up antics, jumping about, standing on his head, and doing other funny things. So little use is there for one's body that one may perform all these acrobatic feats even when deprived of it.
