Mr. Bennett's Report on the Mitchel Lumber Tract.
IS VERY ENTHUSIASTIC.

The official report of Ira B. Bennett to the American Lumber company is given. Mr. Bennett made a careful investigation of the tract and his report is a warm endorsement of the project. It is this company that will put up its mills here. The letter is as follows:

To the Officers and Directors of The American Lumber Company, Rookery Building, Chicago, Ill.:
Gentlemen—I have just returned from my trip to New Mexico, where I examined the pine timber holdings of the American Lumber company. I spent some time in the timber and found one of the largest and finest blocks of white pine that exists in one solid body. The timber is the nearest to Michigan white pine of any I have ever seen, being free from shake and very little rot; runs very large, averaging from five to six logs to the thousand, and will cut from two to four clear logs, before getting into the limbs.
The tract is heavily timbered, and I fully believe there is all the timber on the land that is claimed by the estimators. It is the finest logging country I have ever seen, and an ideal place to carry on a successful lumber business.
The company has made a fine purchase, and if white pine holds its own, will surely realize an enormous profit from the investment. There is no reason why your company should not make, with proper management, fully $7 to $10 per thousand on every foot of lumber they manufacture. I visited two neighboring lumber companies at Flagstaff and Williams, Ariz., and found them doing a very successful lumber business, having a ready market for all they could manufacture, and believe the American Lumber company will return a very large dividend to any one who may purchase their stock. I will take a large block of it, and cheerfully recommend my friends to purchase all they can of the same.
Yours very truly,
IRA B. BENNETT.
