New York, September 2.- Henry Edson, son of former Mayor Franklin Edson, shot and killed Mrs. Fannie Pulten, this morning and then killed himself, dying instantly. He is said to have been insanely jealous of the woman and wanted her to elope with him.
The killing occurred in the presence of his brother and two others.
Both parties were highly connected.
Recently Edson had quarreled with his wife and left her. He sent for Mrs. Pulten, who came to his house not knowing what was wanted.
Several persons were talking together when Edson suddenly asked Mrs. Pulten to elope with him. She indignantly refused and turned to leave, when the shooting occurred.
