JAIL DELIVERY,

Twelve Prisoners Escape from the County Jail—Three of Them Recaptured.

Sheriff Thompson having gone on a short visit to Mandan, the county jail has been for the last few days under the charge of Turnkey Mat Bros, and the prisoners have, during the sheriff's absence, had things all their own way. Last evening, about 8 o'clock, as the turnkey went into the jail to lock the prisoners up for the night he found twelve of them in the corridor outside of the cells. As soon as he entered he was knocked insensible and the twelve citizens made a rush for the office. The watchman, Mr. Chitteck, who was sitting in the office, was knocked down with a heavy chair and the twelve opened the street door and skipped out. Three of the crowd were captured shortly afterwards, one being caught in a yard near the jail by Dr. Calkins and two others in a barn. The following are the names of those still at large: Thomas Summers, George Lane, William Mack, Charles Clark, Charles Fisk, Charles Marshall, George Sandy, William May and George Laird. The entire police force and a host of deputies are searching for the lost, but up to 1 o'clock nine of them were still at large.
