Marine Serpent.

Capt. Crabtree relates, that on the 20th of June, 1793, he saw about two leagues from Mount Desert, a Serpent of an enormous size, swimming on the surface of the ocean; its head was elevated about six or eight feet out of water. That part of the body which was discernible appeared to be of the size of a barrel in circumference, but the head larger, having some resemblance of a horse's. It was supposed to be from 55 to 60 feet in length.
