WASHINGTON, D. C., July 21. -

George Rosetti, a Syrian leper from Beirut, shipped over Maryland railroads on his way to the Institution for Lepers on North Brother's Island, N. Y., left Brunswick, Md., on a special freight train at 5 o'clock today and is expected to reach New York Sunday night, by way of Baltimore and Philadelphia.

His journey through Maryland excited serious apprehension. He was put into an empty box car on the Baltimore and Ohio railroad at Evitt's Creek by the police without interference from the populace.

At Brunswick nearly famished, the leper was given food and water. On receipt of the report that he intended to come to Washington, Dr. Fowler, of the health department, established sentinels on the outskirts of the city to stop him.
