TORONTO, Ont., May 26. (U.P.)—Fifty million dollars worth of white pine timber was endangered today by forest fires raging through the Timagami forest reserve, about 250 miles north of here, Ontario forestry officials announced today.
A strong northeast wind aided the fires, as they burned toward areas containing some of the finest white pine timber in Canada.
The fire started Tuesday, forestry officials said, from unknown causes. Scores of woodsmen were rushed to the reserve to help combat the flames.
