Thomas Closes Band Mill Here
The band mill department of Thomas Lumber and Manufacturing Co., of Quincy, has been closed down, according to C. W. Thomas, Jr., and for the time being timber bought by the concern will be cut into lumber near where it stands instead of being hauled to the mill here for cutting.
Mr. Thomas said the move is made in the interest of economy and efficiency since it is faster and more economical to haul the lumber here for dressing rather than haul the logs. He said his concern still urgently needs timber for the war effort and more production is anticipated through the smaller mills.
