WHEAT, CORN AND OATS
LARGE LOCAL AND PROFESSIONAL TRADE WITH FREQUENT
CHANGES IN AN ESTABLISHED RANGE.
By Associated Press.
Chicago, July 21.—WHEAT—
Good trade but largely local and professional, with fluctuations frequent within an established range. War possibilities, drop in consols and unfavorable foreign crop advices were the principal bull helps. Local professionals and handlers of cash were conspicuous on the buying side early and the market responded readily to demand. Kansas crop advices were bullish. Buying of September and the selling of December by elevator interests were a late feature. The close showed July up 2⅛. September 1¾ higher.
CORN—Moderate trade with the feeling somewhat unsettled. The close showing July ¼ better, while September gained ⅝. The buying of September was more general and shorts covered July. The distant futures did not advance proportionately. Market was strengthened chiefly by the early advance in wheat. Weather conditions excellent and cables easier.
OATS—Active and strong. Distant futures were being bought by the largest shorts. September took a lead and advanced ¾. December advanced ⅓. Other months ¼@½. The advance was largely in sympathy with wheat and small offerings. Reports of rain in the southwest added to the uneasiness of shorts.
