STUBBORN FACTS.

It may be stated as a certainty that the Black Republican party is in a minority in every State in the Union.
Whatever States this party may carry (if they shall succeed in any) will be by a simple plurality.
This party will thus be in a minority in the Northern States, while the whole South en masse is opposed to it.
Yet this fraction of the nation, (not a fourth,) this fraction of each separate State aims to control the whole country, to violate the Constitution, the equality of the States, and the rights of Southern people.
If we add to the Northern opponents of the Black Republicans the entire South, it will be clearly seen that the "voice of the people" of this Union is overwhelmingly against this wicked and corrupt party.
Let these facts be kept before the people.

The following extract from Mr. Buchanan's letter of acceptance, cannot be too prominently or too widely noticed by papers desiring the peace and prosperity of the Union.
We shall take frequent occasion to present it to our readers. The matters of fact contained in this short paragraph, should of themselves suffice to rally in opposition to the Republican flag nineteen-twentieths of the Northern people:

"Most happy would it be for the country if this long agitation were at an end. During its whole progress it has produced no practical good to any human being, whilst it has been the source of great and dangerous evils. It has alienated and estranged one portion of the Union from the other, and has even seriously threatened its existence. To my own personal knowledge, it has produced the impression among foreign nations that our great and glorious Confederacy is in constant danger of dissolution. This does us serious injury, because acknowledged power and stability always command respect among nations, and are among the best securities against unjust aggression and in favor of the maintenance of honorable peace."
