Full Text

Notwithstanding the extraordinary exertions made by the federalists of Massachusetts, there is a strong prospect that a considerable majority of the members of the House of Representatives will be republican. The Democrat, of Boston, says that so far as returns have been received, the net republican gain in that body is seventy-five. The Centinel, a federal print, allows it to be fifty-six, and adds that the federal majority the last year was twenty-three. The republican complexion of both the branches of the legislature will more than balance the choice of a federal governor, should Mr. Strong prove to be elected by a small majority.
