American Cotton Being Shipped to India Duty Free.
LONDON, May 25.—The Manchester Guardian says: "From Liverpool we learn orders have been received there to ship American cotton for consumption in the mills of Bombay, it is intended with this material to commence the manufacture of shirtings and other medium classes of cloths in India. This cotton will pass into India duty free, whilst goods made from same kind of cotton in this country will pay an import duty of five per cent."
