A Bachelor's Chance of Marrying.

The "Assurance" Magazine, an English periodical, has the assurance to make the following statement:

We are told that in the two periods of life—20 to 25 and 25 to 30—the probability of a widower marrying in a year is nearly three times as great as that of a bachelor: at 30 it is four times as great; and from 30 to 45 it is five times as great; at 50 the chance of a widower marrying in a year is eleven times as great as that of a bachelor.

After the age of 30 the probability of a bachelor marrying in a year diminishes in a most rapid ratio: the probability at 35 is not much more than half that at 30, and nearly the same proportion exists between each period of five years afterwards.
