Could Not Serve a Summons on Man With Airship, But Did His Best.
CHICAGO, July 21.--Constable Alex Monroe, armed with a summons, today vainly attempted to get personal service on Horace B. Wild, while the latter was sailing his airship over Chicago.
The officer had a sorry time trying to do his duty, and, though he has had success in serving men escaping on trains, steamboats, moving vans, etc., the airship beat him.
The constable reached the White City just as Wild's airship ascended, pursued it and caught it as it descended in a marsh, but it went up again and sailed away.
When a second descent was made Constable Monroe came up quickly but Wild got away in time, leaving the airship in the hands of employees.
The summons was in a suit for rent. Monroe is still on the trail of the aeronaut.
