The river thieves or pirates recently captured at McGregor's landing, Iowa, are not handled very gently by the people of that neighborhood. Under the direction of the Vigilance Committee, six or seven have been whipped and shaved, while four others, to save them a coat of tar and feathers, were humanely sent down the river in a skiff.
